CPPS in the Recent News:

(8/1/09) Read the CPPS letter to Superintendent Goodloe-Johnson urging her to listen to parents' feedback on the teacher contract negotiations.

(7/21/09) With Layoffs, Teacher Seniority Reconsidered (KPLU)

(5/20/09) CPPS editorial in the Seattle Times on teacher seniority vs. performance, and the need for parents to speak up.

(5/27/09) Danny Westneat column on the petition.

News and Events

Through community meet-ups, study groups and workshops, CPPS is organizing opportunities to bring parents and community members together to discuss the issues, engage, and advocate for a great public education system in Seattle.

July: CPPS candidates forum for district 5 school board candidates
May: CPPS annual meeting: overview of activies, presentation by Dr. Marguerite Roza from the Univ of Washington
March 2009: Held CPPS parent networking meetings in the Central, West Seattle, South/Southeast, and Northeast clusters.
Dec & Jan: Hosted various cluster meetings on community solutions to capacity mgmt
Dec 1: Co-hosted forum on state funding for K-12 education
Oct 28: CPPS panel on Central Cluster Middle Schools
May 22:  CPPS Ambassador Workshop
May 8:  Workshop on the Superintendent's Strategic Plan
May 1:  Forum on Enrollment with Tracy Libros, SPS director of enrollment & planning
